CQT has a complete offering of handgun training from basic to advanced techniques for all levels of shooters. Our courses take advantage of our cutting-edge facility from the classroom to the shoot house.
Eye and ear protection are available if needed. Ammo is also available for purchase in the pro shop. Steel-cased, steel-cored, 5.56/.223 SS 109 and M855 (green tip) ammo is prohibited at the range. Appropriate attire for all classes. NO low-cut shirts or open-toed shoes. Baseball cap recommended.
This eight hour course meets and exceeds the State of Michigan Requirements to obtain a license or permit. The class will cover: Firearms and the law, firearm safety, ammunition and firearm components, home defense and personal protection information, shooting stances, marksmanship fundamentals, basic holster techniques and choosing a firearm that's "right for you." You will spend time in both the classroom and on the range, completing a 150-round course of fire.
Required: Notepad and pen for note-taking, personal firearm, eye and ear protection, minimum 150 rounds of ammunition.
Our four hour "refresher" course meets State of Michigan requirements for all license or permit renewals. You will learn tactics for concealed carry and updates to change in carry laws. You will spend time in the classroom and on the range, completing a 50-round course of fire.
Required: Notepad and pen for note-taking, eye and ear protection, personal firearm, minimum 50 rounds of ammunition.
In this four hour course you will learn to safely unload, load, fire and inspect your pistol. You will also be exposed to different types of holsters, carry and concealment methods and additional materials and equipment that will make your shooting more enjoyable and safe.
Required: Personal firearm, eye and ear protection, holster, three magazines, five snap caps (dummy rounds), 250 rounds of ammunition.
Over this eight hour course, you will learn how to draw and fire your handgun, conduct "emergency" and "tactical" reloads, as well as how to clear various types of weapon malfunctions.

In this eight hour course, students will build the skill set acquired from Handgun I. You will learn how to use ballistic protection in addition to exposure to techniques necessary for accurate shooting while moving.
Required: Successful Completion of Handgun I, personal firearm, eye and ear protection, holster, three magazines, magazine pouch/holster, minimum of five snap caps, minimum of 250 rounds of ammunition, knee pads (optional).
Skills and Drills
An advanced, high round-count, course designed to expose the shooter to drills that can enhance skill set and ability to quickly, accurately and tactically employ your defensive handgun. This course applies and enhances skills learned in both Handgun I and II.
Required: Successful Completion of Handgun I & II -OR- Successful completion of Carbine I & II, personal firearm (one type only), holster, magazine pouch/holster, minimum of five snap caps, eye and ear protection, minimum of 375 rounds of ammunition, knee pads (optional).
Threat focused shooting
This four hour course has been designed to mimic the Point Shooting techniques developed by Rex Applegate that were widely used during WWII and have been adopted by many organizations worldwide.
Required: Personal firearm, holster, eye and ear protection, minimum 350 rounds of ammunition.
Force On Force
This eight hour course has been designed to prepare you for realistic problem solving in a deadly force encounter. You will be utilizing Simunition training equipment to experience hostage and carjacking scenarios, and other real life scenarios
Recommended: Successful completion of Handgun I and Handgun II.
Required: Holster, magazine pouch/holster, handheld flashlight, minimum of two snap caps, 50 rounds of Simunition (first round provided, additional available for sale), knee pads (optional), jacket/sweatshirt, gloves.
Advanced Pistol/Rifle Operator
A physically and mentally demanding advanced pistol and rifle course designed to get you thinking and making decisions while in high-stress situations and environments. Please be well aware of the physical and mental demands for this class. All areas of our facility will be utilized including range, VirTra V-300 Simulator, combatives area and shoot house.
Required: Successful completion of Handgun I & II, Carbine I, II, & III, as well as one version of Skills and Drills, personal pistol and rifle, holster, sling, magazine pouch/holsters, eye and ear protection, minimum of 250 rounds of ammunition PER WEAPON, kits (plate carriers, chest rigs, helmets, etc.).
This four hour course is a must for anyone who carries a firearm. You will learn holstered retention, traditional handgun retention (strong side and cross-draw), elbow control handgun retention, drawn retention as well as disarming techniques.
Required: Inert training gun (if you do not have one, they will be available), eye protection, gloves (optional).
Small Frame Revolver
This 4 hour course will take a look at carry options, concealment methods and drawing revolvers for self-defense. Reloading techniques will also be covered.
Required: Personal firearm, holster, eye and ear protection, speed loader/speed strip, minimum 250 rounds of ammunition.
