Service Description
The Advanced Patrol Rifle Operator course is a 2-day, 16-hour program designed to build on foundational patrol rifle skills. Officers will learn advanced techniques for dynamic movement, cover utilization, and tactical engagement in realistic law enforcement scenarios. The course begins with a review of firearm safety, patrol rifle fundamentals, and confirmation of Battlefield Zero (BZO). Students will then progress to dynamic rifle handling, including movement to and from cover, strong/support side shooting, and alternate positions. Instruction focuses on advanced weapon manipulation at barricades and cover, transitional shooting techniques, and effective engagement of multiple threats. Officers will practice high ready, low ready, and depressed muzzle positions, along with contact shots and rifle use in confined spaces for impact or subject control. Students also learn rifle retention techniques, proper sling usage for control, and how to operate safely in two-man team movements, maintaining communication, 360-degree protection, and muzzle awareness. Emphasis is placed on integrating all skills to enhance individual and team effectiveness. By the end of the course, officers will confidently apply advanced patrol rifle tactics in dynamic environments, improving accuracy, safety, and overall operational readiness.
